Sorbet is more than just another ice cream option. It is a sophisticated dessert and can simultaneously be served as an intermediate dish to reset your taste buds -- a feature very few dishes can claim. Benvenuti in the wonderful world of sorbet.
Fancy coming to taste our sorbet?
Sorbet is an ice cream dish in which a variety of fruit juices or syrups are poured over finely crushed ice. It originated with the Romans, who served their guests various ice cream dishes prepared with snow mixed with honey, rosewater and fruit. Sorbet was born and the Romans were just mad about it.
Although sorbet is an ice cream dish, it does not really resemble the traditional variety of ice cream. The big difference is that sorbet contains no milk or cream. Ideal for people looking for lactose-free desserts. In addition, sorbet contains less fat than regular ice cream and the preparation method is different.
"Sorbet is a popular flavour explosion in Italy and should definitely not be missing from our menu. We chose a traditional version with a quirky twist: sorbet of passion fruit, cassis and lemon. Delizioso!"
Sorbet can be served for dessert or as an intermediate dish. It is a nice way to end the meal as it has a refreshing effect on the palate. But sorbet is also a hit between courses because it neutralises your taste buds, making them ever ready for the array of flavours the next dish has to offer.
There are countless flavours of sorbet, from orange to lime to strawberry and raspberry. Da Giovanni's favourite is sorbet with passion fruit, cassis and lemon. Full of flavour and with a unique twist. You should definitely come and taste it.
